Government of Kazakhstan considers transferring Fed Cup matches to Nur Sultan due to coronavirus
Astana. January 28. KazTAG - The Government of Kazakhstan is considering transferring the Federation Cup matches to Nur-Sultan because of the coronavirus, reports the press service of the Tennis Federation of Kazakhstan.
“An official request from ITF (International Tennis Federation - KazTAG) regarding the possibility of holding the scheduled qualifying matches of the Federation Cup in the Asia / Oceania group in Nur-Sultan was received on January 27. On the same day, the Federation appealed to the Government of Kazakhstan asking to consider this request and confirm the technical readiness to host the games on February 4 - 8, 2020 with the participation of teams from India, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Indonesia and Uzbekistan. Thus, the decision to postpone the FedCup qualifying matches to Nur Sultan is currently under consideration," reads the statement.
The transfer of qualifying matches of the Federation Cup from the city of Dongguan (China) to Nur Sultan is associated with an outbreak of coronavirus and restrictions on movement through the territory of China.
