GPS sensors to be installed on garbage trucks in Kazakhstan - Mirzagaliyev

Astana. July 14. KazTAG - The authorities are going to prevent appearance of spontaneous landfills in Kazakhstan  by installing GPS sensors on garbage trucks and  construction of garbage recycling plants, said Magzum Mirzagaliyev,  Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources.
“For years, the issue of the growing number of spontaneous landfills has not been resolved. Within the frameworks of the space monitoring arrangement by Kazakhstan Karysh Sapary  on July 11  more than 7.5 thousand unauthorized landfills were identified in all regions of the country,” he said.
According to him, the Ministry of Ecology and the akimats developed plans for their elimination.
“In order to resolve the issue, the new environmental code provides for the mandatory installation of GPS sensors for garbage collection vehicles,” he said.
He asked Askar Mamin, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, to instruct the akimats to eliminate spontaneous landfills within a month.
To prevent the emergence of new landfills, Mirzagaliyev proposed to conduct public raids, and to make the revealed facts public.
