Half of imported food products might be produced in Kazakhstan - Atameken
Almaty. May 22. KazTAG - The volume of annual food imports is worth $3.6 bn in Kazakhstan, while half of the products might be produced domestically, said Yerbol Yeseneyev, advisor on agriculture in Atamekent.
"There are serious questions concerning our food security. Unfortunately, we annually import food products worth $3.6, while out of this volume we might make products worth $1.5-2 bn. It might be dairy products, meat products, which we keep on importing," he said at the on-line briefing.
He pointed out positive dynamics.
"In general we have managed to increase exports, i.e. in the past 10 years from $15 bn to $3 bn, mainly crops products," he said.
Meanwhile, comparing the prices of exports and imports, in natural expression, Kazakhstan sells crude products for $200, while imports ready made products for $1000.
