Head of association proposed to spell out requirements to smoking zones in restaurants in the law
Almaty. October 22. KazTAG - Kazakhstan needs to spell out the regulations on arrangement of smoking zones in the restaurants, said Igor Kopailov, president of "HoReCa-Kazakhstan" association of restaurants and hotel business.
"Today restaurants equip smoking rooms the way they want. The Majilis proposed to ban smoking rooms in the places of public catering, but we propose to include cafes, restaurants, night clubs into a separate category and keep such places there," he said.
He added under existing restrictions there has been reduction of revenues in the restaurant business, budget loss made up 8-10%. He referred to the experience of Russia where smoking was banned in the places of public catering, as a result about 30% of hookah bars and pubs were closed. The revenues of restaurants fell by 15-27%.
"Such fall will be perceived more intensively in Kazakhstan in case of the ban introduction, as our market volume is much smaller," he said.
