Individuals may be prohibited from passing scrap metal to reception centers
Astana. March 13. KazTAG - It is proposed to prohibit individuals in Kazakhstan to pass scrap metal to the reception centers in Kazakhstan, reads the request of Majilis deputies addressed to Askar Mamin, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.
"On the legal level we propose to regulate the following: to develop clear qualification requirements to activity on provision of services on collection, storage, processing and sale of metal scrap; to allow metal scrap collection only for legal entities and individual entrepreneurs presenting the declaration of the scrap origin," reads the request.
The Majilismen reminded about mass theft of iron sewer hatches, copper telecommunication wires, power lines, water pipes in early 2000 , after which the government took appropriate measures “which allowed regulating the secondary market for non-ferrous and ferrous metals at the legislative level”.
However, 20 years after the thefts resumed resulting in tragedies.
