"The message spread about allegedly coming earthquake measuring up to eight points is fake," said Nursultan Nurakhmetov, official representative of the emergency situations committee.
The department of emergency situations of Almaty said: "all the forces and means of the emergency situations department are working in the routine mode".
"On the base of the annual session of the prognosis commission of the institute of seismology dated January 22, no powerful shocks with intensity seven or more points are forecasted in the period from January 23 to January 29 in the Almaty region," said the department of emergency situations.
An audio message had appeared in the social networks with a man saying about upcoming powerful earthquake reaching seven points or more. He said the emergency situations forces are preparing for the disaster.
