Ingress of oil discovered in Turkestan region

Astana. November 19. KazTAG - Ingress of oil has been discovered in the Turkestan region, reports the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources.
"Oil ingress was discovered at Shokpak site in the Turkestan region at shallow depth," reads the message.
The search and survey expedition conducted a study of geophysical anomalies in the Leontiev depression of Greater Karatau to detect bauxite deposits and associated lead, zinc and rare earth.
"Wells were drilled to a depth of 300 m. In 11 out of 39 drilled wells, drip-liquid oil of different shades of brown was found at different depth intervals," said the report.
According to the statement, the ingress of oil in the Shokpak section have been discovered in the mountains for the first time and they are important for predicting the oil and gas potential of both the Syrdarya and Shu-Sarysu depressions.
