Institute of corporal punishment proposed to be introduced in Kyrgyzstan
Almaty. November 27. KazTAG - Dastan Bekeshev, deputy of Zhogorku Kenesh, proposed to introduce the institute of corporal punishment at the Parliament session on Thursday, reports the KyrTAG news agency.
"I propose to introduce the institute of corporal punishment in Kyrgyzstan," he said.
"I don't mean we should cut out hands or fingers, no way, but we can (on the example of Singapore) introduce corporal punishment for minor offences," he said.
In his words, the number of imprisoned population is growing in Kyrgyzstan.
"Our prisons are overcrowded, frequent amnesty is not an option, it leads to irresponsibility, thus, the institute of corporal punishment might be an alternative to imprisonment," he added.
