Introduction of uniform EEU currency impossible in the near future- Russian expert
Almaty. April 10. KazTAG - Introduction of uniform currency in the states of Eurasian Economic Union is impossible in the near future, said Ruslan Grinberg, director of economics institute of the Russian academy of sciences.
"I think it is impossible. In the near future- definitely it is unreal," he said in the comment to KazTAG agency on the sidelines of the X international risk management conference.
In his words, Russian economic departments have been reconsidering their indexes to the negative side lately; as a result the national currencies of the EEU states cannot act as reserve currency.
"Even if nothing special happens from the point of view of the sanctions of Western states against Russia, at any case inflation will make up 7-8% in Russia. In my opinion it blocks any negotiations about reserve currencies of EEU states, a kind of replacing dollar," he said.
As reported the agreement on EEU creation must be signed in May in Astana. The EEU will start operation since January 2015.
