Iran proposed Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to reduce railway transportation fees by 40%
Tashkent. April 28. KazTAG - Iran proposed Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan 40% discount on transit railway transportations through the territories of three states, said the embassy of Iran to Uzbekistan.
The heads of railway departments of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Iran met in Teheran on April 27. "Iran proposed to conclude an agreement on uniform railway fees based on the international railway transit fees," said a representative of the embassy on Monday.
"Currently the railways of three states transport 1.6 mln tons of goods. If the agreement is reached this index may be increased to 3 mln tons," said the embassy.
At the end of 2013 Iranprovided 30% discount to Uzbekistan for transit of lint cotton via the railway. The preferences will be effective during one year with possible prolongation.
