Almaty. March 3. KazTAG - 200 km of pipes for Kashagan will be supplied by Japanese Marubeni Itochu Steel Inc and German Butting GmbH and Co KG, reports Ak Zhaiyk newspaper.
The newspaper revealed the details about the pipelines construction for the project. The consortium will acquire 200 km of pipes made in Japan and Germany for more than $1 bln.
"According to our sources, 70 km of pipes will be acquired from the Japanese company Marubeni Itochu Steel Inc, which is specialized on production and sale of steel products. Other 130 km have been ordered from German company Butting GmbH and Co.KG, specializing on production of welded pipes, pipe fittings, reservoirs and etc," reads the publication.
The contracts with the companies were concluded in August and October last year.
The unserviceable pipes for the previous pipelines had been delivered by the Japanese companies Sumitomo and KFE.
The works are planned to be started in spring 2015 and finished in the second half of 2016. The total budget of Kashagan project in 2015 will make up $4.2 bln.
