Journalists plan to go on protest action against new accreditation rules
Almaty. February 15. KazTAG - Journalists in Almaty have filed an application to the city akimat to hold a protest action against the draft order of the Ministry of Information and Communications on the new accreditation rules.
"Dauren Abayev is going to toughen work conditions for mass media again. This time his Ministry found a legal way to get rid of unwanted journalists for state bodies. As soon as the order comes into force bringing changes in accreditation rules, a journalist may not be allowed to an arrangement, if there are not enough seats (comfortable and legal reason for press-services). We can get rejection in accreditation "for violation of internal order of an accrediting body and the regulation of a moderator," reads the statement in the application posted in Facebook.
The protest action is scheduled for March 2 in case of approval by the city administration.
Journalists plan to hold a round table to discuss the draft order.
As it was reported, Dariga Nazarbayeva, Parliament deputy, commenting on the amendments initiative, said that journalist must be able to fight for their profession.
She added she is not acquainted with the draft order. She indicated passiveness of journalists in discussion of normative legal acts concerning journalism.
