“Work in this area will continue in terms of conducting a detailed analysis of USAID activities to study the projects and programs financed, their goals, and the compliance of the stated goals with actual results (within the framework of the Working Group on Cooperation with USAID, created by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2024, which includes all interested government agencies). In particular, a study of USAID country strategies will be conducted, as well as USAID’s relationships with other organizations, including governmental and non-governmental, will be studied in order to assess the potential impact of these relationships on USAID’s goals. In addition, it is necessary to analyze financial flows in order to identify possible cover-up schemes, inconsistencies in the use of funds and conflicts of interest,” said Serik Zhumangarin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy, responding to a request from a group of Majilis deputies.
Regarding the financial resources allocated by foreign sponsors, he said that according to information from the US State Department provided to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, 28 long-term programs in various areas are being implemented with USAID in 2024 within the framework of bilateral agreements.
