Kazakhstan achieved significant reduction in maternal mortality among CA countries - WHO
Almaty. November 19. KazTAG - Kazakhstan has achieved significant reduction in maternal mortality among Central Asian countries, informs IA Novosti-Kazakhstan citing spokesperson of World Health Organization (WHO) Klaudia Stein.
«Kazakhstan has shown big headway among Central Asian countries, in terms of reducing maternal mortality by 5.3%, when other countries in the region have not reached such indicators. In order to fulfill tasks of the millennium we have to reduce this indicator down to 5.5%», - said K.Stein.
According to her, over the last 5 years maternal mortality in Kazakhstan lowered by three times, and infant mortality rate – by 1.6 times.
