Kazakhstan and US signed memorandum on creation of regional electricity market in Central Asia

Astana. November 22. KazTAG - Kazakhstan and US have signed a memorandum on creation of regional electricity market in Central Asia, reports the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.
"Today the US and Kazakhstan made an important step towards strengthening of the power cooperation signing a memorandum on mutual understanding which will create Central Asian regional energy market (CAREM)," reads the report.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Piedra noted: “An integrated CAREM will save money and enhance energy security and economic stability; it will also facilitate commercial trade and attract investments in the power sectors of all five Central Asian and neighboring South Asian countries.
