Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan agreed to increase transportation of grain, coal and oil

Astana. September 26. KazTAG – Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan agreed to increase the transportation of grain, coal and oil, reports of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy.
“The parties agreed to increase the exchange of trains at the Saryagash-Keles interstate junction point, giving priority to cargo such as coal, grain, and oil products according to the additional plan,” reads the statement.
A bilateral meeting of the delegations of KTZ-Freight Transportation LLP and Uzbekistan Temir Yollari JSC took place in Astana. Also at the meeting, an agreement was reached on the formation of new supply chains for fresh fruits and vegetables.
According to the data, by the results of eight months of 2023, the volume of cargo transported by rail between countries increased by 26% compared to the same period in 2022 and amounted to 20.6 million tons. Exports of grain increased by 38%, flour by 77%, and coal almost doubled. Imports of chemical and mineral fertilizers increased by 67%, fruits and dried berries by 10%, cars by 6%, and more.
