Kazakhstan interested in military cooperation with neighboring states - Nazarbayev
Astana. July 4. KazTAG - Kazakhstani President Nursultan Nazarbayev met the participants of the session of Defense Ministers Council of CIS member-states in Astana, Akorda reports.
"The President indicated that in the conditions of unstable geopolitical situation and turbulence of world economy Kazakhstan is interested in close military cooperation with neighboring states," reads the message posted on the official site of Akorda.
"Within the frameworks of CSTO we have had partner relations, mutual protection, common air defense. We need to retain these relations and trust to each other," he said.
He emphasized importance of regular meetings of heads of defense departments of CIS states.
"The joint experience of our states, human contacts, common education field, including in the military branch, uniform armament type and common space of external borders security - all this means the necessity of further retention of close ties," he said.
He also emphasized importance of development of further defense and military-technical cooperation.
