Kazakhstan may ban energy drinks

Almaty. November  18. KazTAG – The committee for the Protection of Consumer Rights suggested prohibiting energy drinks containing taurine, informs meta.kz.

The committee for Protection of Consumer Rights of the Ministry of National Economy of RK believes such drinks cause irreparable harm to people’s health.
«Over 6 bottles per month can explicitly affect cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal tract and may lead to neuropsychiatric diseases», - said the spokesperson of the Committee.  
There are norms in the country, which ban selling energy drinks close to educational institutions. But the Committee intends to go further and fully prohibit selling  taurine containing drinks. They cite some European countries as an example, where energy drinks are banned.
