Kazakhstan needs to develop its own base of oil processing and petrochemistry - expert
Almaty. October 28. KazTAG - Kazakhstan needs to develop its own base of oil processing and petrochemistry, said Oleg Yegorov, chief research officer of the institute of economy of science committee of the Ministry of Science and Development.
"Development of own branchy base of oil processing and petrochemistry is necessary for the country, firstly, in connection with growth of the own demand in , secondly, as the final products of these two industries represent quite profitable export, that is proved by constantly growing demand at the world markets," he said at the expert discussion "Deficit of gasoline: thirst at the well".
In his words, the biggest petrochemical complexes in China and Germany up to $5 bln in cost were built in 2.5 years. "We have been constructing our petrochemical complex in Karabatan, Atyrau region since 2005 and we still don't know when we finish," he reminded.
"We can live long with fuel deficit, waiting when Russia or China will deliver them. What should we do in this case? We should simply build a new refinery plant. Atyrau refinery since 1945, Shymkent and Pavlodar refineries since 1980- are old objects," he said.
