Kazakhstan plans to follow experience of nuclear power plant building in Turkey

Astana. August 9. KazTAG - Kazakhstan is going to follow the experience of construction of a nuclear power plant (NPP) in Turkey, said the press service of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs "Atameken".
“Akkuyu NPP (in Turkey) is a giant construction project, the experience of which must be taken into account regardless of the developer. After visiting the Akkuyu NPP construction site, it is clear that if Kazakhstan is going to enter into such a project, it is absolutely impossible to do it,” Timur Zharkenov, NPP representative.
According to him, in comparison with Turkey, where the project managers are representatives of the construction company, in Kazakhstan the main engineering staff should be our compatriots.
Logistic capacities should be taken into account. There are also four cement plants and a number of SMEs around the station.
“We do not have such an opportunity and we must now ask ourselves how to deliver, as the volume of deliveries will be enormous. As for the SME belt around the construction site, infrastructure is also needed for this, and most importantly, an understanding of whether we have enough enterprises in the country and what percentage of the need they can cover,” said Timur Zharkenov.
