Kazakhstan's exports of processed uranium in 2023 fell by 24% - Senate Speaker

Astana. May 24. KazTAG -  The decline in Kazakhstan’s exports of processed uranium in 2023 amounted to over 24%, for ferroalloys – 15.5%, said Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbaev.

According to him, about 40% of the manufacturing industry comes from metallurgy. These are mainly low-value products, intermediate consumption goods, essentially industrial raw materials.

The number of operating legal entities in the manufacturing industry has doubled over 10 years. At the same time, 96% of them belong to small businesses, 2.5% to medium-sized businesses and about 1% to large businesses.

Indirectly, this may indicate, in his opinion, the artificial fragmentation of companies and insufficient incentives for business growth and consolidation.
