Kazakhstan technologically unprepared to take up genetic engineering of plants - expert
Almaty. November 21. KazTAG - Kazakhstan has not achieved the appropriate level to take up genetic engineering of plants, said Stuart Swanson, international expert in agriculture of the university of Florida.
"There are many technologies and methods which we can share with Kazakhstani agricultural sector, they will help to develop the agricultural branch. But genetic engineering is on a higher level, thus you (Kazakhstan-KazTAG) is not on that level now," he said to KazTAG.
He reminded many people in the world speak against genetic engineering.
"People always fear some new technologies, I think that in 20 years it will not be a subject of discussion," he said.
