"Among the reasons of his defeat Kosanov named the fact that he wasn't "a candidate from unified opposition" and also "notorious boycott" declared "by some former colleagues from the democratic camp located abroad". He also said "on TV he saw that power transition will take place with involvement of people, taking into account their opinions". Kosanov added that Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev "once again has confirmed his intention to conduct a dialogue with people, tolerance to nonconformity, especially to alternative opinions of young people and congratulated him "on his victory," reads the message.
Kosanov declared he had no pretenses to the electoral process on June 9. The statement was made on the background of numerous violations at the voting stations and mass detentions of protestors in Nur-Sultan and Almaty.
