Kyrgyzstan Government rejects draft decree on increase of seasonal sugar fee
Almaty. May 20. KazTAG - The Government of Kazakhstan has rejected the draft decree on introduction of seasonal sugar fee, reports the KyrTAG news agency.
"By the results of the session chaired by Taiyrbek Sarpashev, First Deputy Prime Minister, the draft decree of Kyrgyzstan Government "On seasonal sugar fee delivered to the customs territory of Kyrgyzstan", initiated by the Ministry of Economy has been rejected due to insufficient argumentativeness," reads the message.
Antimonopoly Committee believes the measures are inexpedient as import provides 80% of cheap sugar to the population, while the local companies satisfy only 12-15% demand.
"Introduction of customs fees would result in increase of prices as the fees for imported sugar would increase, while the domestic plants won’t be able to cover the demand," reads the message.
