Life term in prison for Chelah remained unchanged
Astana. January 22. KazTAG - Life term in prison for Vladislav Chelah has remained unchanged.
"The verdict dated December 11 2012, order of judicial board, order of cassation judicial collegium dated 2013 in respect of Chelah remain unchanged, the appeal has not been satisfied," said Abay Rakhmetulin, chairman of judicial collegium on criminal affairs of the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan.
As it was reported, defense lawyer Gulmira Shaldykova asked the court to cancel the verdict on life term imprisonment for V. Chelah. In her words, the reason for the case reconsideration was the UN resolution considered in November 2017.
As it was reported 14 frontier guards and a local forester were found dead at Arkankergen checkpoint on May 2012 in the Almaty region. Several days later 15th frontier guard Vladislav Chelah was found who plead guilty of mass murder. According to investigation, V. Chelah first shot dead his comrades-in-arms and then put the barrack on fire.
The remaining of three soldiers were sent to the genetic expertise to Germany, However, the remains of Denis Rey and Meirkhan Imenov were not identified.
Zhanibek Bakhtiyarov, assistant of prosecutor general, said the fact of death at Arkangergen of D. Rey and M. Imenov was declared by the method of exception, as the expertise was unable to identify the DNA. The remains of other soldiers were identified.
