Marat Sultangaziyev appointed as akim of Almaty region

Astana. June 13. KazTAG - Marat Sultangaziyev has been appointed as akim of Almaty region, reports the press service of Akorda.
"Appoint Marat Sultangaziyev as akim of the Almaty region," reads the statement.
Recall that on May 3, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev renamed Kapshagay into Konaev by his decree, and on May 4 he made it the regional center of the Almaty region, separating the Zhetysu region with the administrative center in Taldykorgan from it. He also formed the Abay region with the center in Semey, separating it from the East Kazakhstan region, as well as the Ulytau region with the center in Zhezkazgan, separating it from the Karaganda region. Tokayev's decree officially came into effect on June 8.
