Astana. November 29. KazTAG - The Ministry of Interior Affairs is investigating the case of ex-head of special prosecutors' office Olesya Keksel.
"The investigation department of MIA registered the criminal case by the application of Ye. Nabiyev about tortures in his respect on September 19 2019," said MIA answering the official request of KazTAG about investigation in respect of Keksel.
Police refused to disclose any other details.
Hamida Aitkaliyeva, attorney, said on November 15 at a hearing on the case of ex-vice minister of energy Anatoliy Shkarupa that the Interior Ministry initiated a pretrial investigation in respect of prosecutors Baurzhan Gabbasov and Olesya Keksel. They are suspected under paragraph 1 of Article 146 (intentional infliction of physical and (or) mental suffering committed by the investigator, the person conducting the inquiry, or another official) of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan. According to the lawyer, the reason for the investigation was the statement of her client - entrepreneur Nabiyev Ye. about illegal actions of Keksel and Gabbasov. Aitkaliyeva also added that Keksel had already been questioned as a witness with the right to defense.
On November 21, ex-prosecutor general, Senate deputy Kairat Kozhamzharov said that the case against Keksel was dismissed, but on the same day his words were refuted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, stressing that the investigation was underway. It was also reported that the ex-special prosecutor was allegedly in Kazakhstan.
