Minister commented on false air alarm in Yesik: Our warning systems are faulty

Astana. November 12. KazTAG –Kazakhstan's Minister of Emergency Situations Chingis Arinov commented on the incident in the city of Yesik in the Almaty region, when residents were warned of an air raid alarm and radiation hazard during an earthquake.
"In terms of siren and voice devices, warning systems, they are, let's say, not up to par. There is a program we are working on. It is included in a large digitalization program. Now there are modern solutions that we will implement. In this case, an investigation is currently underway in the Yesik part,” Arinov said during a government briefing.
Explaining who turns on the warning systems, the minister noted that this is strictly individual.
“It can be turned on manually or set to automatic mode. If we talk about Almaty, then during a 5.5-point earthquake, it will turn on automatically. But if necessary, our employees at the duty station can turn it on themselves,” added the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
On November 5, residents of Almaty felt an earthquake. And on that day, residents of Yesik were warned from a megaphone about an air raid alarm and radiation hazard.
