Ministry of Energy about construction of nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan: Public opinion will be taken into account
Astana. April 4. KazTAG - The public opinion will be taken into account in the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan, said Magzum Mirzagaliyev, deputy minister of energy of Kazakhstan.
“Opinion of people will be taken into account. As for the site, I have already said that various sites were studied in terms of the seismicity of the area, in terms of access to water, and so on. We drew up a short list - this is the area in Kurchatov and the area in the village of Ulken in Almaty region," he said.
He added that the issue has been under discussion for several years, but so far no decision has been taken yet.
“I cannot say that the decision will be taken soon. We still have a balance of electricity, today there is enough surplus of electricity," he said.
