“The first case of a new coronavirus strain (SARS-CoV-2 VUI 202012/01) was revealed in South East England using viral genomic sequencing, which consists of many changes in the genetic line. According to preliminary data, the virus is spreading more actively among young populations. This type of virus has not been detected in Kazakhstan. Given the airborne transmission mechanism of the virus, it is impossible to unequivocally exclude the risk of its transfer too our country, ”said Yerlan Kiyasov, Vice Minister of Health and Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Kazakhstan.
He also added that the deterioration of the epidemiological situation directly indicates that people in Kazakhstan have stopped complying with the established preventive measures.
