More than 10 mln croplands abandoned in Kazakhstan - Majilisman
Astana. April 23. KazTAG - More than 10 mln hectares of croplands are abandoned in Kazakhstan, water resources are used irrationally, said Tursunbek Omurzakov, Majilis deputy.
"Almost a third of agricultural lands have degraded today, more than 10 mln hectares of potential croplands are abandoned. The question of irrational use of lands is hot today. Big territories transferred in long-term rent are not put to good use or used minimally," he said.
He also indicated the problem of irrational use of water resources including irrigation.
"If we don’t take measures water deficit will reach 14 bln cu m by 2030, by 2050 the deficit will be more than 20 bln, that will make 70% of the total water demand," he said.
