More than 2000 people died in landslide in Afghanistan
Almaty. May 4. KazTAG - 2100 people died in landslide in North-East of Afghanistan, reports the BBC Russian service.
"Afghanistan authorities confirmed death of more than 2000 people in the landslide," reads the message.
The tragedy occurred on Friday in Badakhshan province in North-East of the country in hard to reach mountainous area. Much of north and east Afghanistan has been hit by heavy rain in recent days, followed by flow of mud and stones.
"Totally 300 families- more than 2100 people have died," said official representative of the provinces' governor.
More than 4000 people have been evacuated.
