Nazarbayev orders Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development to settle question with flights to US and Japan
Astana. January 30. KazTAG - President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has ordered Zhenis Kasymbek, Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development, to settle the question with direct flights to the US and Japan.
"First of all it is Air Astana. Now we are flying to Europe, we need to fly to the US, to Japan. Look what do we need for this, how to help, to support. Probably, it won't be profitable, but we have to start working on this. We should help to buy aircrafts or to use the operating ones. We must settle this issue this year," he said at the extended session in the Government.
According to Kasymbek, stable growth of indexes is being observed in the civil aviation field, the number of transit passengers has increased from 20 000 in 2010 to 900 000 last year.
"The number of transit passengers will increase to 1.6 mln in 2020. In the first half year we plan to launch the first low budget air company FlyArystan. In the first year of exploitation we plan to transport up to 1 mln passengers. The fares will be twice as low as in Air Astana," he said.
