New head appointed in state security service
Astana. July 4. KazTAG - Amantay Kurenbekov has been appointed as head of the state security service, Akorda reports.
"Appoint Amantay Kurenbekov as head of state security service," reads the order of N. Nazarbayev posted on Akorda site.
58 year old major-general A. Kurenbekov has been deputy minister of internal affairs since October 2009. In 1991-2001 he took managing posts in the President's security service. In 2001-2009 he worked as deputy head of President's security service.
As reported, on April 21 by the order of the President the President's security service and the Republican guard were reorganized by merger into the state security service.
