Number of autistic children is growing in Kazakhstan

Astana. December 2. KazTAG - The number of children with autism is growing in Kazakhstan, said Askhat Aimagambetov, Minister of Education and Science .
“The number of children suffering  autism spectrum disorders has been growing lately,” said Aimagambetov.
According to him, the main categories of children with special needs are children with mental retardation, speech impairments and children with mental retardation.
The authorities set the tasks of creating conditions for early  detection of diseases, creating conditions for early intervention of correction, ensuring maximum coverage of inclusive education, creating a barrier-free environment in educational institutions, creating conditions for educational and methodological support of the learning process, increasing the potential of teachers at work.
“Currently, 160 thousand people with special needs study in educational institutions. Over the years, the number of children studying inclusively has been growing. All conditions have been created for them to study in general education schools. In this regard, the number of special schools for special children is decreasing. It is a good indicator," said the report.
