"Since 1991 the level of self-employment grew up by 676.6%, which indicates the growth of employment in the country mainly due to increased self-employment. Self-employment has become an integral part of the modern labor market," he said.
In his words more than 45% of self-employed countries falls on three southern regions(Almaty, Zhambyl and South-Kazakhstan). South Kazakhstan region takes the lead: it accounts for one third of the total self-employed population in trade and transport, 38% in the construction sector.
"A number of self-employed people is not a problem- for comparison, in Turkey, 30% of the population is self-employed, in Bangladesh - up to 70%, we have 26%. The problem is creation of a unified database of self-employed to monitor their activities, formation of an adequate reporting system that objectively reflects the scale of their activities," he said.
