Nur-Sultan takes lead in top-25 cities with most polluted air

Astana. November 20. KazTAG - Nur-Sultan takes a lead in the top-25 of the cities with the most polluted air in Kazakhstan.
“According to the calculations of SI (standard index - KazTAG) and MR (most repeatable - KazTAG), for the III quarter of 2019, the following cities have been classified as cities with very high pollution level (SI - more than 10, MR - more than 50%): Nur-Sultan, Aktau, Zhezkazgan, Temirtau. A high level of pollution (SI - 5-10, MR - 20-49%) was recorded in : Aktobe, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Karaganda, Balkhash ”, indicated the newsletter on the state of the environment for the III quarter of 2019, prepared  by Kazhydromet.
Kazhydromet also named 17 settlements  with high levels of air pollution.
“The increased levels of pollution (SI - 2-4, MR- 1-19%) have been recorded in: Kokshetau, Atbasar, Taldykorgan, Atyrau, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semey, Pavlodar, Kostanay, Rudny, Taraz, Karatau, Uralsk, Aksai , Shymkent, Turkestan and the villages of Glubokoe, Beineu, ” said the report.
