Only 12% of Kazakhstani people have positive attitude towards interethnic marriages - research
Almaty. May 6. KazTAG - Only 12% of population have positive attitude towards interethnic marriages in Kazakhstan, said Irina Chernyh, chief scientific representative of Kazakhstani institute of strategic research under the President,
"Our latest research showed that only 12% of population have positive attitude to interethnic marriages, 40%- take it negatively, and a bit more than 30%- neutral," she said.
In her words the question about interethnic marriages demonstrates "interethnic tension in the society".
"If we do not want to let a representative of another ethnic group in the family and make him part of our culture it is a very serious sign," she said.
