Only one of 100 workers in Kazakhstan apply with complaints about violation of labour rights
Almaty. September 9. KazTAG - Only one of 100 workers in Kazakhstan apply with complaints about violation of property rights, said Aina Shormanbayeva, president of public fund International legal initiative.
"The number of complaints may be very modest, but we know, that coverage of mass violations is wide in all the regions of Kazakhstan. One out of 100 workers applies," she said.
She said that the main reason is fear and legal nihilism.
"People are often intimidated, they have no evidences, no labor contracts, people do not know about their rights. Another reason is corruption, no access to legal mechanisms of protection. One may not apply to the court if he or she has no documents. People do not know their rights," she said.
Jeff Willer, representative of international organization for protection of workers' rights "Center of solidarity" said about initiation of a two years project in Kazakhstan aimed at implementation and performance of international labour standards in Kazakhstan
"We have chosen Kazakhstan for this program as it is one of 10 worst states on performance of labour rights, we believe it is good time to start working in order to improve the situation," he said.
