OSCE urging authorities of Kazakhstan to investigate attack on journalists in Almaty
Almaty. July 23. KazTAG - OSCE has urged the authorities of Kazakhstan to investigate the attack on the journalists in Almaty.
"I am urging the authorities of Kazakhstan to rapidly investigate the attack and intimidation of journalists of Radio Azattyq, KazTAG agency, Almaty-TV channel who wanted to attend a press-conference of an NGO in Almaty. Journalists must work in security," said Harlem Desir, OSCE representative on freedom of media.
As it was reported, the journalists were attacked on the press-conference about persecution of mothers in the international bureau for human rights and the rule of law in Almaty. The attackers grabbed the equipment of KazTAG reporter, broke cams of the journalists of Almaty TV channel and Radio Azattyq. Police were called but they did not take any measures against the attackers.
The mass media workers had arrived to the conference entitled "Government fighting with mothers and children".
