Police declared one of reason of mass fish death in Atyrau region
Atyrau. April 15. KazTAG - Police have declared one of the reasons of mass fish death in the Atyrau region.
"The first results of examination showed that the fish were killed by chlorine. Two criminal cases were opened last year. Since January investigators are working in Atyrau," said Mukhtar Kozhayev, deputy head of investigation department MIA.
In his words, expert investigations are underway seeking the objects which could have dumped chlorine into the river. He said due to big volume of works the investigation process takes long time.
"Another reason of long lasting investigation is the ice melting process. About 10 tons of dead fish have been collected in the Ural river. We have decided to conduct the expertise to find out what the reason of the fish death was and if it was connected with the fish death fixed in December last year," he said.
He also commented on termination of the criminal case following mass fish death in the Peretaska channel.
"All the dead fish had mechanical injuries without the signs of poisoning," he added.
