Astana. July 9. KazTAG - Police have ignored attack on a journalist with gas spray in the time of detentions in Nur-Sultan, reports Radio Azattyk.
" A man with grey hair aged 45-50 wearing a white T-shirt turned aside the cam's lenses of Yerzhan (Amirkhanov, cameraman-KazTAG) and sprayed gas in him. Until this moment we were looking at another side. He sprayed between us. He sprayed it in my right eye and on the right hand, and to the left side in Yerzhan. Yerzhan screamed to police, but nobody responded," said Orken Zhoyamergen, reporter.
There were other journalists standing nearby.
The reporter said the attack with pepper spray caused strong burning.
"If he sprayed directly in the face we would not be able to keep on working," said Zhoyamergen.
Highly ranked policemen were on the scene, including deputy head of police department Bakytzhan Malybayev. People in the masks were fencing the field of vision with wide umbrellas from the journalists. They applied to Malybayev to take measures in respect of people preventing them from work, but, as it is shown in the video posted oon the Internet, he ignored the applications of journalists.
