Police officer and several other individuals convicted for trade in grenades and grenade launchers in Almaty

Almaty. February 24. KazTAG - A police officer and several other individuals have been convicted in Almaty for trade in grenades and grenade launchers, reports the press service of the National Security Committee.
“In June 2019, the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan liquidated the illegal international channel for the supply of firearms. Three Kalashnikov assault rifles, three grenade launchers, two combat grenades, 14 pistols, more than 1700 rounds of ammunition and components for weapons were withdrawn from illegal traffic. 10 residents of Almaty and Almaty region were prosecuted. (...) The court of the  Almaly district of Almaty sentenced the members of the criminal group to various terms of imprisonment," reads the report.
The pre-trial investigation revealed involvement of a police officer in the criminal group.
“The official stole the ammunition listed on the balance sheet of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The police also suppressed a workshop for handicraft weapons assembly," said the message.
