Poltoranin discharged from custody in Austria
Astana. March 1. KazTAG - Alexey Poltoranin has been discharged from custody in Austria, reports the national federation of ski race of Kazakhstan.
"Alexey Poltoranin, leader of Kazakhstan's ski race team, has been discharged from Austrian jail where he had been taken without explanation of reasons 1.5 hours before an important start of the world championship competition on February 27," reads the message.
"Now our athlete is in Seefeld. Physically he feels fine. Decision of further participation of Kazakhstan's skier in the world championship will be declared later as well as the reasons of the incident. Up to date, we are just glad that this horror is over," said Samal Nauryzova, spokesperson of the ski race federation of Kazakhstan.
As it was reported, the law enforcement bodies of Austria and prosecutor's office of Germany conducted a joint operation against an international doping network within which they conducted seven searches at the location of several national teams at the ski sports championship in Seefeld and detained two athletes of the national team of Austria, one athlete of the national team of Kazakhstan and two athletes from Estonia.
