Practice of penalizing workers in small and medium enterprises is illegal - expert
Almaty. July 30. KazTAG - The practice of penalizing workers of small and medium enterprises is illegal and inadmissible in Kazakhstan, said Askhat Asylbekov, chairman of the branch Kazakhstani professional union of workers of small and medium enterprises Yntymaq in Almaty.
"Employees are often fined in the field of small and medium business, for instance, a young waitress may be deprived of her salary, or even run in debt before the employer. These fines are illegal. According to the labour code, there are many other measures- reprimand, dismissal. Measures of material impact are unacceptable, ” said Asylbekov.
At the same time, he explained that few people in such cases apply to the Department of Labor and Social Protection or file a lawsuit in court.
“Unfortunately, the population and the workers are unaware of this. There are people without rights, there are people who are intimidated, so they do not sue. There are, of course, certain people who may complain to the department of social protection, but these are persistent people who want to take revenge or simply return the money they earned, ”noted Asylbekov.
In addition, he said, SME workers are often poorly aware of their rights and the ability of trade unions to protect them.
