Property legalization may frighten Kazakhstani people - Majilis deputy
Astana. May 22. KazTAG - Omarkhan Oksikbayev, Majilis deputy, believes the new legalization of property may frighten people.
"It will be monitored by the law enforcement bodies. Now they said that operational measures will be conducted. Won’t it frighten those who must legalize the property? If we go this way, perhaps, we should liberalize this side to get those expected $10-12 bln into economy," he said to Ardak Tengebayev, Vice Minister of Finance.
He said"not everyone should be punished".
According to the Vice Minister the draft law reads "people who got money in result of economic crimes will not be punished". "Even the opened cases will be closed, those which were not opened won't be opened," he added.
He added "it concerns only economic crimes".
"As for corruption crimes the situation is different here. We even applied to the Eurasian Group and the Group for Development of Financial Measures for Combating Money Laundering. We met all these representatives in Moscow: the law enforcement bodies, the National Bank," he said.
"The response was negative. This question has not been raised anywhere in the world. Thus, on this issue the draft law says - legalization is not permitted," he concluded.
