Rapist may be sentenced from the age of 12 in Kazakhstan

Astana. September 12. KazTAG – The criminal liability for some crimes should be established not from 14, but from 12 years old, for example, in cases of rape, said Majilis deputy Magerram Magerramov.
“The legislators should probably reconsider the age thresholds for criminal liability for some crimes, establishing liability not from 14, but from the age of 12. For example, in cases of rape,” Magerramov voiced a deputy’s inquiry during a plenary session of the Majilis.
According to him, Kazakhstan’s schools are unsafe. Kazakhstani people  have been repeatedly shocked by news of rapes, abuse, and murders of children committed by minors.
“One of the sources of violence in the ranks of our army, accidents that lead healthy and strong guys to disability, are bullying, violence, promotion of banditry and a criminal lifestyle that has taken root within the boundaries of our schools. “Children brought up in a destructive school environment are joining our army, and they continue their destructive actions in the army,” the deputy said.
