Record number of migrants arrived in Kazakhstan from China and Mongolia for permanent residence

Almaty. November 12. KazTAG – Over the first nine months of 2024, 1,451 people arrived in Kazakhstan from China for permanent residence, and 1,088 people from Mongolia, reports the First Credit Bureau (FCB).
“Over the first nine months of 2024, 1,451 people arrived in Kazakhstan from China for permanent residence, and 1,088 people from Mongolia,” reads the report.
The growth compared to the same months of 2023 is 177% and 172%, respectively.
The number of immigrants from China has become the highest since 2017, and from Mongolia - since 2011.
Almost all those who came from China and Mongolia are Kazakhs by nationality, 98% and 99%, respectively. Half of the immigrants from China settled in Astana or Almaty, almost every fifth one - in the Almaty region. For those who arrived from Mongolia, the most popular region is the Akmola region - 33%, and the capital accounts for more than a third in total: 23% in Astana and 13% in Almaty.
