Astana. May 17. KazTAG - Regular drought is among the main problems preventing farmers in Kazakhstan from loans coverage.
"The biggest problem in Kazakhstan is drought, analyzing the drought situation in Kazakhstan for the past nine years, it has been on for about three years, I think it is a big problem, even a catastrophe for the farmers," said Marselle Andries, head of agricultural re-insurance in Europe and Central Asia, Swiss Re.
He said drought is the main reason for problematic loans among farmers.
"Drought is a catastrophe for the farmers, as everything that they have can dry up and finally they cannot pay off their credits," he said.
