Rights advocates are asking President to put veto on amendments into judicial code
Almaty. April 22 KazTAG - Rights advocates plan to apply to Kazakhstani President asking to put a veto on the amendments adopted by the Majilis into the criminal, criminal-procedural, criminal-executive, civil procedural codes and codes on administrative violations.
"The statement on violation of human rights in the draft new codes will be sent to the Senate, Ministries, departments, security council and Presidential office. If the Senate ignores our statements we will apply to the President asking to put a veto on the draft codes," said Tamara Kaleyeva, president of "Adil Soz" international fund for protection of freedom of speech.
She indicated the article on spread of misleading information stipulates punishment up to 10 years, which is tougher than for murder.
The statement signed by NGOs heads and common people (totally 118 signatures) calls to present the regulations to the national public expertise in order to eliminate the norms imposed by corporate and instantaneous interests.
